Perfect stay in Alton!
My husband and I had a lovely time in this perfectly situated B&B. It's in the heart of everything in the area, yet still tucked away a bit, so that it's very quiet. Joan and Jack were delightful hosts who made sure we had everything we needed.Read the full review here.

Exceptional, strength is in the detail!
- This small and perfect spot was amazing in its attention to detail. From the booking process, the welcome, the linens, the breakfast, the cleanliness, basically there is nothing left to chance. Our two ground floor rooms opened each onto the guest lounge and gave us privacy, patio, garden chairs, TV video etc, free water in the guest fridge. Thank you from two very happy guests, we shall be coming back, and bring our other sister next time!! Read the full review here.

Joan and Jack run a marvelous B&B in Alton, in the center of Jane Austen country. This lovely converted church features first class accommodations (with wonderful showers, heated towel racks, free wifi and beautiful decorations). Breakfast was a treat - eggs from down the street and locally caught and prepared smoked salmon (along with other local items). Joan's passion for making her guests feel welcome is unparalleled. A rare jewel. lovely rooms, tastefully decorated with a modern touch. a nice mix of privacy and being looked after by the hosts which felt just right. oh yes and a lovely breakfast with a range of both healthy and the full English. I would definitely recommend without hesitation.

Jane Austen jump off
We wanted to visit Chawton Cottage, Chawton House and Gilbert White's house at nearby Selborne, as well as Winchester Cathedral. St Mary's Hall proved ideally placed for such a visit, and Joan very thoughtfully and helpfully telephoned after our first enquiry to alert us to the restricted winter opening hours at Chawton Cottage so that we could shift our proposed booking accordingly. She and Jack gave us lots of good advice, including the recommendation of an excellent restaurant in Winchester and of an excellent coffee and cake shop in Alton, and altogether this was a very enjoyable and successful stay in an absolutely first class B&B. We would recommend it unreservedly for anyone looking for accommodation in this beautiful part of Hampshire.
